We are in the Storytelling business and not The 'Show Business'.

A story is told. Specific points are focused on at the author's discretion. The 'show' points.

As writer's we're afraid to put ourselves into the story, too much. But your favorite authors are all there with you while you read.

You know it's Stephen King, Tolstoy, Toni Morrison, without a book jacket. Alice Walker tells the story and slows down to show when the point needs focus; to best impact the story.

So many people don't write, or finish writing anything, because of the misuse of this 'rule.'

Tell, tell, tell, with a slow and show for emphasis of major plot points. That's a great book. Really, check out your favorite authors.

Thanks for raising this point, Matthew; I believe it's a crucial one for the sake of the quality of Story in general.
